Step 1 - The Job Role

Role Overview
The Travelling Fleet Manager holds direct responsibility for the generation of profitable sales across a designated fleet of ships. The incumbent is accountable for the operation and execution of events, promotions, and retail standards to ensure that sales and PPD (Passenger Per Day) targets are exceeded. This role requires a balance of land-based remote monitoring and active on-board sailings to coach, train, mentor and audit retail teams.
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial Strategy
Revenue Maximization: Manage promotional activity and monitor ship-specific Promotional Planners to ensure sales revenue is maximized.
Execution: Ensure the execution of promotional strategies according to best practices, including optimal timing, location, and voyage day.
Reporting: Analyze sales trends, identify opportunities, and report on stock-outs.
Creativity: Foster a culture of creativity where on-board teams can suggest new ideas and initiatives through the established corporate approval process.
Performance Tracking: Follow sales evolutions and analyze figures to prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly activity reports.
Operations & Standards
Planning: Ensure each ship’s Promo Planner is optimized by itinerary, ensuring day, time, and location are correct.
Ship Visits: Conduct regular ship visits and sailings to audit operations and provide hands-on coaching and development to the on-board management team.
Remote Management: While land-based, work remotely to review promotional calendars and request photographic evidence of every retail set-up for quality control.
Compliance: Ensure shops are run in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and in compliance with MLC and ILO regulations.
Internal Relationships: Maintain and develop strong working relationships with ship-side senior management and partner with shore-side Revenue and Marketing Directors.
People & Leadership
Talent Identification: Identify high-potential talent to assist in succession planning for the fleet.
Training & Development: Partner with Human Resources to assist in the recruiting, training, and development of competent sales and shop management teams.
Performance Management: Review associate performance by department, reinforce coaching for improvement, and write performance evaluations and development plans for ship-side managers.
Incentivization: Motivate the management and sales teams to achieve desired revenue goals and recommend top performers for promotion.
Professionalism: Ensure all staff adhere to house rules, including strict appearance and grooming standards.
Person Profile
Experience and Requirements
3–5 years’ experience in multi-unit retail or specialty store management.
Travel Retail Expertise: Previous experience in cruise line retail or customer service with strong operational or commercial expertise.
Leadership: Proven ability to motivate, lead, and mentor a diverse, international team.
Skills: Excellent sales, negotiation, and communication skills.
Aptitude: Strong business sense, initiative, and enthusiasm.
Conduct: As a high-profile representative of the company who owns the operational relationship with the cruise line partner, impeccable professional conduct is mandatory.

Step 2 - Requirements
Before you start an amazing leadership adventure on the oceans and growing your career in a travelling role, it is important to know that this role is very different to onboard roles. You will need a valid passport with at least 1 year on it, and you will need to have a good deal of travel savyness, as you will constantly moving from ship to ship. Whilst the role will be home based, you need to be able to easily reach the ships and be prepared to spend a long time away from home as you lead your fleet teams, wherever your ships are located.
